Rio de janeiro Medical Goodie Two Shoes

Teddy Tutu

Goodie Two Shoes

I’m borrowing Danielle in Brazil’s Caught being good.

Last week my doctor decided that I should get an MRI. No need to worry, I have a very proactive doctor and a history with some not very nice ovarian cysts.

Nonetheless, as an American, when I heard the word MRI I thought hassle. I assumed (ass out of you and me situation once again) that it would take weeks to schedule and many phone calls with my insurance company.

But this is a “lucky to be living in Brazil” moment. I am lucky to have a very good private insurance company via Mr Rant’s work and so I called Bronstein to schedule my appointment.

My appointment was on a Tuesday morning. I called them Tuesday afternoon and managed to get scheduled in for a pelvic MRI on that Friday. Fast service!

Now if you are a regular reader of my blog, you know I had a very crap day and missed an appointment. Blog post here: One of Those Mornings. I actually managed to miss my scheduled MRI. Oops.

I thought that I was screwed. Hell, I missed a MRI appointment! That has to get you on some Brazilian medical shit list.

Nope, they scheduled me in for Tuesday evening, this evening to be exact.

Not only that, I got in on time. Seriously, I was in on time Brazilian style (ie. 10 minutes late). When waiting to get an MRI, I imagine that a 10 minute wait is nothing! Given, this was my first MRI.

So I am giving Rio de Janeiro’s Bronstein Exam centers a Caught Being Good Award! I highly recommend the Copacabana location. I have used them once before and they are extremely efficient! I think I just may go live in one. I’ll offer to make the post fasting cookies and coffee.

Have you had an MRI or any other type of scan? Did you get in right away? Did you have to wait for an appointment? ie. is this kind of service normal?

I just have to say that I love Bronstien all around in Macae and in Rio! It makes having to go somewhere separate for services bearable.

I recently broke my back so have had more MRIs, Xrays, ultrasounds and CAT scans than I can remember. Whenever I have had a check up it has been super smooth. Testing and diagnostic centers are definitely one of the few things here that actually work. Now I think about it, I have got blood and urine work done quicker than I collected a whopper meal at a drive through last week.

Omg, you broke your back?! How are you doing? You ok?

You are right, the medical testing aspect works wonderfully down here… in the private sector at least.

I am recovering nicely (I think), carnival was a bit of a strain but I survived that!!

        Thanks for asking

When you mentioned calling Bronstein I thought you’d be ordering bagels.

I wish. I’d be even happier if there were bagels involved.
